Frequently Asked Questions

Roller Skating Classes FAQs
  • How long does it take to learn to skate?

This varies according to each skater and depends on your goals. It typically takes a minimum of 1 to 2 full sessions (6 classes) to learn the basics to skate recreationally. Practicing during our public skating sessions will greatly accelerate the process.

  • What if I have never skated before?

Our class is designed to accomodate all levels, especially those who are skating for the first time. Our talented and certified coaches will teach you the fundamentals and have you skating confidently in no time.

  • I want to become a hockey player. Is this the right class for me?

We recommend taking this class first if you are not able to skate on your own. Once you are able to stop, skate backwards, and perform crossovers you will be able to join the Little Hawks Hockey Academy, our popular program for kids looking to learn how to play hockey.

  • Do you have inline skates available for rent?

Only traditional roller skates are available for rent. However, our pro shop sells inline skates and offers a 10% discount to class participants.

  • Should I bring protective equipment?

If you are a beginner we recommend you bring a bike helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, and elbow pads.

  • Is this class for intermediate skaters too?

Yes. Whether you are a beginner or just looking to improve your existing skills our classes are for you. Groups are separated according to ages and skill level.

  • Will we be skating on a wood floor?

No, we are not an old school roller disco (although we do have the lights and setup to create that environment). Our rink is a full size roller rink with interlocking plastic tiles. We find that our surface is easier to skate on and can be used for skating, hockey, roller derby, and more.
